Rainbow is putting its code in order — and the cleanup shows what is coming

9 October 2026

Three changes landed in the main branch over the past few days, and all three delete more lines than they add. On its own that means little. What is interesting is something else: two of them are named sports-01 and sports-02.

What exactly was fixed

Worklets are worth explaining. They are pieces of code run on a separate rendering thread so animations stay smooth. Everything such a piece captures from its surroundings has to be carried across threads. Previously the entire palette went in — background colours as well as text colours, when only the latter were needed. Now exactly what is required is carried.

And now what all of it is for

The branches are called sports-01 and sports-02. Behind them stands a series of thirteen PRs, and the titles give the plan away:

Sports already works in the wallet — inside the Polymarket section, which covers CS2, MLB, NBA, NFL, NHL, soccer, UFC and other leagues. The series does not create it from scratch; it rebuilds it and promotes it to its own tab in the bottom bar.

How close is this. Two of the thirteen are merged, and both are groundwork: presses and rendering. There is no sports directory in the main branch at all yet, and no flag either. The section it is meant to replace is already switched off: king_of_the_hill_enabled sits at false, the slot is free.

No timeline can be given — eleven PRs are open, and some branches at Rainbow never reach a release. But the order of work says something: two PRs fix the platform first, then data, then the interface, and only then three PRs of tests. Nobody does that for something they plan to throw away.
